Winner Announcement
Updated on November 19, 2013

Thanks to all those who joined our very first international giveaway here on Parallel Planets. Everyone's comments are heart-warming and it was a tough job to choose the winner so we asked for Spazzkid's advice! Instead of having only one winner, we picked two! Sweet!

The first winner goes to JA Dimailig! His answer was written in pure Tagalog (Filipino language) and everything he said was both sincere and hilarious. Congratulations, man! You won (1) Desire 願う CD or cassette tape (your choice) and (1) Spazzkid Twins tee!

Our second winner is "Ionosphere Negate," who got himself (1) Desire 願う cassette tape! Because as per Spazzkid, "There's something about what he wrote that I like so much." Congrats, dude!

To the winners, we will be sending you a message about your prize(s) and if we don't receive a reply within a week, we would have to choose another winner(s). Thanks!

To those who didn't make the cut, don't fret—we have more giveaways in store for you very soon! Stay tuned, fellas!

  2. Every one of the songs in Desire is fantastic and creative, so, I am left with the technical aspect.
In this instance, my favorite would have to be "Forgiveness."

Usually music that tells a story must be accompanied by a preexisting story, such as text, a video, lyrics, or depends entirely on the listener.
"Forgiveness" uses nonvocal sfx that are obviously human interactions without actually directly stating this. The smacking noise could easily be heard as either kissing or eating, but it might as well be both. Either sharing a good meal or sharing a good bed (lel, the album is called "desire" so obvsly...) - either one of these can be used to solve a relationship issue, and it's pretty obvious what the outcome is.
And the clock, what sounds like a "grandfather" clock's inner workings, ticking away at the start?

These sounds are literally a part of the song, and this is were JH's words, "Blues is easy to play but hard to feel," come into play: It's something you have to understand something about for it to work for you.
I guess it would just sound like noise to most, but it's nothing like one of those mega-obscure tracks (like "I Am The Walrus") that reference to something else that nobody would get without them understanding the writer. This track is about something that everyone can understand.
It's also probably the most brutally honest track in the album.

So there you have it. That's why it's my favorite.

  3. This is really though. Getting to Know You is such a fantastic way to start off the album. The peace and joy that it fills the reader with is astonishing.
Marks voice fits in perfectly with the delicate guitar sample. Loving Free is probably the most feel good song I have ever heard. It makes me want to run to the nearest park with a boombox playfully dancing with the one I love.
If Not You Then Who really helped me through a rough time after summer. Of course the summer love thing didn't work out how I had planned. This song really let me reflect on myself and my own emotions.
But, I would have to say my favorite song on Desire is Forgiveness. The memories this song holds will be remembered for a life time. This summer, me and a few good friends took a roadtrip and my best friend Dylan and I love freestyling. We both suck at it but we really enjoy it and have fun. This track was our go to song and we listened to this song countless times over that amazing trip. By the end of our journey, everyone in the car had contributed lyrics to the song and we sang it almost all the way home. The playfulness and childhood innocence in the track is a beautiful thing. Near the end of the song when things change up it take you to a beautiful land of sunshine and smile. This track will be remembered in my own (and many others) hearts forever. And that is why Forgiveness is the track I desire most.

  4. The song I Desire most would have to 'Forgiveness'. The minimalistic composition is incredible. The breakdowns and bass lines are just right. Overall great work. -Intellektive

  7. so difficult to choose between getting to know you and 40 winks but i think i'd have to go with the prior if i had to. that song has actually been strongly associated with this summer past because it was played so much, both alone and with my friends. the album as a whole is such an enjoyable listen in so many different contexts (social gatherings, studying, walking, sleeping) and a large part of that is the absolutely flawless introduction by this track. honestly, i have difficulty recalling a better album introduction ever. as soon as it begins, i feel warm.

  10. "LOVING FREE"
is my favorite among all my other favorites on spazzkid's 'Desire' album (which is basically each track!) Each track is different from the other but retains the smooth and soft-colliding beat that makes me forget all my worries and sends me looking up at my ceiling with a cigarette on my lips.

That's how hardcore the tracks are because I don't worry about school (the school worries about me) and yes.. I don't smoke. Haha! Gotta win this package! Ughhh.

  11. Getting To Know You is definitely my favourite. It was my first exposure to Spazzkid's music and I was instantly hooked. The beat is drenched in clicks and pops and sounds fantastic juxtaposed with the cutesiness of the xylophone and pizzicatos. The distant reverb on the vocals is dreamy and catchy and I love it. The second I heard this track I thought both "I love this" and "I wish I had made this" at the same time. Since then, Spazzkid has been a chief influence for my own electronic music attempts, and one who inspires me to make my stuff fun and emotional at the same time.

  12. Honestly, Desire is my favorite album. Spazzkid's DIY chillwave meets catchy sweet pop is perfect. My personal favorite song is Marquez. From the start of the song with what sounds like some desk tapping clicking off at some odd beat. Then the sweet kick and snare roll in along with some odd percussion mixing all together. Then the sweet synth blends it all together adding in a funky yet simplistic bass. Everything about this album is gorgeous.

  13. How do I sound cool in this thing?

The Kokeshi Doll track is pretty cool I feel weird listening to it. Spazzkid's work is really great and I like getting free stuff too so.. I've seen him in reddit so he must be a redditor. Kudos

  14. Noong una kong napakinggan 'tong Desire, madalas kong ulit-ulitin yung Candy Flavored Lips. Ngayon, pinakaaasam ko yung Marquez. Pero hindi lang yun, hindi pwedeng yun lang. Kasama niya sa pagtatangi ngayon yung 40 Winks. Matindi at mabangis 'tong dalawang 'to respectively at lutang sa ereng mahamog at kumikislap. Kung may alaga siguro akong pusa, malamang bonding time namin yung 40 Winks. Solid at panalo in more ways than one.

  15. The song I desire the most is Forgiveness. It is the song I walk around to the most and one of the songs that has inspired me the most to start making sampling music and beats.
