Daylight Dweller: Romancing Shadows

Dear diary,
I had a rendezvous with a woman. A nocturnal, she scribbles thoughts past midnight and paints her lips deep, dark red. She has dangerous tresses for ungodly hours. Every strand is quite like a fragment of everyone else's imagination. Beckoning. Have I even told you that I fear the dark?
Oh, the irony of romancing shadows and being afraid of it.
“Fancies are like shadows...you can't cage them, they're such wayward, dancing things."
~
I find the idea of shooting a subject in solitary confinement more inviting. Together, we shun the outside world and the process of creating a story begins. There is hesitance that needs to be shaken off; a momentary creative block overcome by collective what ifs.
This preliminary phase, I liken to finding your way in the darkness. Shadows. Eventually, when you get used to the dark, you begin to identify movements, forms and identities. That's the beauty of discovery.
