From falling in love, to flushing Zoloft, to finding the perfect timing, The Lemonheads' songs were an easy anthem to everyone's emotion-riddled experience. And so we're glad to have found someone who has made The Lemonheads a soundtrack to her life's "fondest memories" — Sunshine Reyes. Here's what she has to say:
"I was 13 and a boy that I had a crush on lent
me his worn-out cassette tape – it was The Lemonheads’ 5th album, It’s a Shame About Ray. It was a gesture
that I’ll forever be grateful for, so when I heard about the band coming over,
I immediately had to let him know. He’s now married with a kid and I hope I
didn’t sound like I was coming on to him, because he said, “I’ll talk to my
wife about it.” Ha!
A few years ago, I was romantically involved
with someone who’s also a Lemonheads fan. At the time he was based in the
States, and he used to sing and play the guitar for me via video call. When I
heard about The Lemonheads coming over, I immediately remembered him. And then
it turns out that his band is
fronting for them.
We have moved on with our lives, but it’s
comforting to know that The Lemonheads provided the soundtrack to some of my
fondest memories. I mean, it could’ve been Creed or someone equally awful, you
know? So thank you, Evan Dando and company."
